About

Friends of Austin Animal Center is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of the animals at the Austin Animal Center (AAC) and supporting the programs, customers, and staff of the Center. The Austin Animal Center is the largest no-kill shelter in the United States, and we are proud to be associated with AAC.

We were founded in 2006 as Friends of Town Lake Animal Center. Our first project was the highly successful sale of the Purrfect Poses cat calendar, which was created by two shelter volunteers. Our most recent fundraiser was the Green Gala, held in October 2011. We were able to donate $31,000 worth of medical equipment to AAC from the proceeds of Green Gala.

Friends of AAC sponsors Hard Luck Hounds, Desperate Housecats, and Classic Canines and Cats, all of which help find forever homes for the neediest animals in the shelter.
